A huge thank you to everyone that was up at 6:30am and came on the 10km Challenge run / walk this morning!

We had magical weather in Hervey Bay and it was so gorgeous outdoors on the bike track.

I had a 72 year old, a 68 year old, 7 and an 8 year old, a diabetic, our Fraser Coast Mayor, walkers from Maryborough, my regular exercise friends and lots of fit and fun Hervey Bay Locals!

One walker accidently forgot to turn at the Pier and ended up at the Boat Club adding an additional 3km to his walk plus is 67 and a diabetic … well done and very keen I must say!

I ran backwards and forwards during the walk chatting and checking on everyone to make sure they were all doing ok, and met some really nice and interesting people, all ages, and like minded!

WIN news even turned up to film the start.

A big thank you to Enzo for giving participants 20% OFF their Coffee!

Well done everyone, you should be very proud of yourselves and thank you so much for your support of the Fun and Fitness I’m trying to create on the Fraser Coast.

I think as per your suggestions we may have to make this a more regular event!

For those that enquired about shirts for the walk they are available here!

Please follow my PT page on facebook or my website for all the latest Adventure Day news and events!

Hmmmmm perhaps 15km next time?

Facebook Feedback:

“Great way to start the day. Congratulations and thanks Jeanette , this is a terrific initiative. Thanks to everyone for joining in.” - Gerard O’Connell | Fraser Coast Mayor

“Thanks Again Jeanette little miss (8 year old daughter) hasn’t stopped talking about our walk can’t wait to do it again cheers” - Samantha Moore

“It was fun. I look forward to the next one. Thank you all for your efforts in organizing it.” - Roger Duncan

“Thanks Jeanette, for inspiring us all once again. It was wonderful to have my teenagers join in and run!” - Cheryl Virgo

“What a great event. Keep an eye out as Jeanette Maynes has said that there will be more to come.” - Kim Parnell

Wow I came across this blog story online and was quite SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!

…… so I’ve expressed my views in blue.
What an uninspiring, irresponsible, misguided article that I’m quite surprised www.news.com.au would even publish.

Perhaps I’m fixated on it because it’s a topic very close to my heart, but the media seems rife lately with people thinking it’s okay to judge people for being fat. Joan Rivers mocking Adele, some poor kid’s mum having a passive-aggresive go, anytime anyone mentions Chrissie Swan.

Why does what someone weighs bother people so darn much? Since when did someone’s weight become public property? And when did it become okay to insult someone so publicly, so shamelessly?

I’ve honestly had it up. to. here.

What someone weighs is absolutely none of anyone else’s business but their own.
One of my favourite quotes is “what others think of me is none of my business” … why are you so concerned that you would feel the need to write a whole article to explain why being unhealthy is ok?
I’m sorry but I’m not going to validate your poor me I’m fat crusade.

Being fat doesn’t make you a failure, a disaster, an embarrassment. It doesn’t point to any particular personality flaw, character type, discipline issue or “lack of control”. It doesn’t make you ugly, dirty, slovenly or (unfortunately) thick skinned. It shouldn’t make you a target, it shouldn’t mean you have to “ignore the haters”, it shouldn’t mean you are open to being called names in the street, it shouldn’t mean you feel unsexy or undesirable.
The fact someone feels any of the above is to do with their self confidence whether they are overweight or not.

Good for you if you were born loving carrots and taking comfort in celery. If you’ve never eaten just because you’re bored, never said “just one more”, never found great pleasure in lashings of butter on a warm bread roll. Or cheese. Or croissants straight from the oven. Or chocolate ice cream eaten straight from the tub. Or jam. If you’ve never, good for you.
Why would you eat because you are bored?
Food should be used to fuel your body, not over feed it. I am never bored ever! Boredom is again to do with self esteem, if you love yourself you will have more than enough fun, creative ideas and constructive things to do!
I always say just one more, because I do my exercise and earn my rewards!
Eating from the tub, now that is just poor manners, get a bowl and eat a responsible portion size like a civilised adult!

Extra points if you love waking up at 5am and going for a run. If you’ve always enjoyed exercise and pushing yourself and “going for it”. I admire your discipline and determination and I’m happy that you’ve “never had a weight problem”. With respect, if you’ve never had a weight problem, you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about if you judge and demean those that have.

Wow now we are really getting into the poor me syndrome!
Just because you make a clear conscious choice not to get up early (Just an EXCUSE! … exercise at lunch if that suits better) or have discipline, you now contradict your own preaching and judge those who chose to live healthy.
EVERYONE has to watch their weight, it is hard work and certainly not a natural blessing for the vast majority, it is an acquired daily habit and chosen life style of exercise and clean eating.
Once at your goal weight you still have to do this every day!
Something you seem to choose not to do?
It’s so much easier to be overweight and lazy, eat what you want and then think you have some right to complain about it?
I take my hat off to healthy people and people who lose weight as I know how much hard work it is, but it gets easier and becomes a lifestyle CHOICE!

And by the way, it’s absolutely possible to be entirely healthy and carry extra pounds so don’t use “it’s a drain on the public health system” as an excuse for your mean judgement of others. Trying to make out that a person’s weight is somehow your business and you can say whatever you like because you pay taxes? What’s with that? People are not statistics and generalisations have never been fair.

Sorry but anyone is entitled to their opinion just like you, and even more so if they pay taxes.
An excuse for mean judgement you got to joking!

Eat clean and avoid these health effects that do cause an enormous drain on the Public Heath system, and more importantly on the poor individual:

Coronary heart disease

Type 2 diabetes

Cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon)

Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides)

Stroke

Liver and Gallbladder disease

Sleep apnea and respiratory problems

Osteoarthritis (a degeneration of cartilage and its underlying bone within a joint)

Gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility)

We might have an “ideal body type” in society, but what we’re actually dealing with are lots and lots and lots of different deals. We have all been dealt different cards in life and we all have something unique and special to offer. Some of us are especially kind and loving, others are witty and smart – or pretty and stylish or caring and giving or calm and confident; lots of us are all of those things.

What we weigh has nothing whatsoever to do with who we are and what we are capable of.

Oh yes it does.
A strong confident happy person, full of self love, would not abuse their body by over eating unhealthy food till their body becomes an unhealthy size …. now would they?
An obese person is certainly not capable of climbing a mountain to appreciate the view, nature and pride that comes with a sense of achievement.
Anyone who is fat and says they are happy are lying. No one is happy being fat.

Please, for godsake, please stop making fat people feel so miserable about themselves and the way they live.
“No one can make you feel inferior (MISERABLE) without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Instead, try reminding them that being overweight is just one part of who they are and not the most important part, not even close.
Perhaps remind them how important they are to you and you are there to help them when they are ready to get on the journey of self love, self respect, inner love and happiness.

Maybe I can change my weight one day, but so far it’s taken me 25 years and even then I’m still not as “thin” as I’m supposed to be, as I want to be. I know I’ll keep trying to become thinner until the day I die, but only because I’ve invested so much of myself – for so many, many years – that I don’t want to “give up trying”. Despite the stereotypes, us fatties are actually some of the most tenacious, determined people I know. Set-back after set-back after set-back after set-back, yet still we are there, trying again and again.

You can make a choice to change TODAY, not one day!
You are the only one holding yourself back and writing such negative story’s seeking validation for your failures just drums your poor me, I can’t do anything, 25 year old life story into your mind even further.
Change your story and self talk to Positive Appraisal: I will Succeed, (not I’ll keep trying), I CAN & WILL Do Whatever It Takes, I Am Worth It, Failure is not an Option, I Love and Approve of myself, I Deserve To Be Happy, I Am Here For A Reason!!
I can assure you that you have not tried everything, anyone who eats clean and exercises loses weight!

After years of feeling inferior because I was bigger than other people, one day I just decided that I was going to live my life wholly, freely and with pride, no matter what I weighed. The minute I made that decision, it seemed ridiculous. Ridiculous that I would even have to tell myself such a thing.
Once again just lack of self confidence and a weak mind.

Stop judging me for who I am. We all have something about ourselves we’d like to change. Something we’re working on as hard as we can.
You are the one judging yourself. I don’t care what you weigh that is your choice and your choice alone.

Stop making me feel like I should be miserable, just because I eat too much.

Once again. “No one can make you feel inferior (MISERABLE) without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
Stop blaming others and be accountable for your own actions and feelings.
No one puts the food in your mouth but you!
Feeling miserable is your own doing.

I’d rather be fat than nasty. – Maxabella (Blog story here)

I’d rather be fit, healthy and at what I feel (not others) is a great goal weight for me. I’d rather be happy, positive, motivating and inspiring rather that encourage others to adopt and validate any sort of poor me ‘VICTIM’ syndrome full of EXCUSES!

Perhaps you should try my ‘4 Week Program’ ? (I won’t let you FAIL!)
– The 4 Week Program provides knowledge you will be able to apply for the rest of your life and understand. No fad diets, in fact NO Diet, no quick fix, just the correct and only way that works clean healthy eating and regular exercise.

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he doesn’t want you, nothing can make him stay. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.

Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that’s not meant to be. Slower is better. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can’t “be friends”. A friend wouldn’t mistreat a friend.

Don’t settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is. Don’t stay because you think “it will get better.” You’ll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better. The only person you can control in a relationship is you. Avoid men who have a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn’t marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently? Always have your own set of friends separate from his. Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up. Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.

You cannot change a man’s behavior. Change comes from within. Don’t EVER make him feel he is more important than you are. Even if he has has more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.

Never let a man define who you are. Never borrow someone else’s man. If he cheated with you, he’ll cheat on you. A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you. All men are NOT dogs.

You should not be the one doing all the bending… Compromise is two way street. You need time to heal between relationships. There is nothing cute about baggage… Deal with your issues before pursuing a new
relationship. You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you. A relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals. Look for someone complimentary… not supplementary.

Dating is fun… Even if he doesn’t turn out to be Mr. Right. Make him miss you sometimes… When a man always know where you are, and you’re always readily available to him ~ he takes it for granted. Never move into his mother’s house. Never co-sign for a man. Don’t fully commit to a man who doesn’t give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

Scared of being alone is what makes a lot of women stay in relationships that are abusive or hurtful: Dr. Phil says… You should know that: You’re the best thing that could ever happen to anyone and if a man mistreats you, he’ll miss out on a good thing. If he was attracted to you in the 1st place, just know that he’s not the only one. They’re all watching you, so you have a lot of choices. Make the right one. Ladies take care of your own hearts… ❤

With over 100 nutrients, Spirulina is often described as the most complete food source in the world, therefore I’ve decided to use it in my Green Juice, check out the amazing components below!

Spirulina, literally the most nutritious food known, is an edible blue-green algae used all over the world for its nutritional and medicinal qualities. It is very common for people consuming Spirulina to experience a jump in energy and vitality. The reason is simple: Spirulina is a powerhouse of nutrition. This conclusion is supported by well over 400 studies conducted in various scientific institutions around the world.

Spirulina is about 60% complete protein, quite a large amount when compared to beef or chicken (approximately 25% protein each). ‘Complete’ protein means that it contains all eight of the essential amino acids that our bodies require to thrive. It has 10 other non-essential amino acids that play important supporting roles in good health.

We all know that fish is a good source of the important nutrients called omega fatty acids (omega 3, 6 & 9). What we don’t often consider is where the fish get the majority of their omega fatty acids: from algae such as Spirulina. This superfood is rich in the omega fatty acids, and especially omega 3, which play key roles in preventing heart disease, lowering bad cholesterol, reducing the severity of arthritis, osteoporosis, depression and diabetes and much more.

Spirulina is by far the highest known source of vitamin B12 with approximately 3 mcg for every gram. Vitamin B12 is essential for the metabolism of every cell of the body, the production of red blood cells and the development of healthy nerve tissue.

It is also the highest known source of beta-carotene, an extremely important nutrient. Beta-carotene is part of the carotenoid family, a group of pigments that give plants their various colours. Beta- carotene is a powerful antioxidant and is sometimes referred to as pro-vitamin A because our bodies convert it to vitamin A. Vitamin A is important for healthy teeth, skeletal and soft tissue, mucous membranes, skin and eyes. Although high doses of vitamin A are toxic, there is no known toxicity associated with beta-carotene. It has been shown to help prevent certain cancers (lung, cervical, skin, oral) and to improve immune system function.

Spirulina provides a variety of other essential nutrients such as vitamins E, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, K1 and K2 and such as minerals calcium, iron, phosphorus, iodine, magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, chromium, and potassium. It is enriched with important phytonutrients such as gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), chlorophyll, c-phycocyanin and other carotenoids including the powerful antioxidant zeaxanthin.

This amazing algae is a microscopic form of life that does not have the usual tough cell walls that are normally found in plant life. This means that it is extremely easy to digest making all of the mentioned nutritional compounds highly absorbable into your body. All of this amounts to simply an unbelievable amount of concentrated nutrition in every gram.

Spirulina has been shown to be effective against certain cancers & viruses, reduce inflammation, increase immune function, detoxify the liver & kidneys, help with diabetes & liver disease, and offer protection for the brain.

The other morning I ran into some ladies at a cafe from a local gym. After doing their morning exercise they were tucking into Eggs Benedict with a Large Cappuccino. When I mentioned OMG hollandaise sauce do you know how fatty that is, no way I’d put that into my mouth?
One lady replied “Thanks for wrecking our breakfast”.

I thought really, a little nutritional comment is going to wreck your breakfast binge?

Now people if you are trying to still lose at least 10kg like I know one of these ladies is, why the hell would you shovel high calorie sh*t into your gob in one meal that is equivalent to or over your daily calorie intake?
… and sorry, being a personal trainer I will comment on it.
If you want to mention about being overweight and all the hard work exercising you do, don’t expect encouraging words of wisdom to come from my mouth to validate your poor choice breakfast experience while you load up on more calories to pack the weight on!

I even heard last night from someone else, I’ve studied nutrition I know what to do to lose weight …. OH really, then why aren’t you doing it?

or I did a triathlon once I know what to do …. OH really, then why aren’t you doing it?

It always astounds me the excuses people make for their poor life choices and expect validation that it is ok to do so.

I would have to run nearly 24km non stop to burn this meal off!!

Any way Bon appétit!
Nom Nom … only you can make the change, perhaps start by being responsible about your food / calorie intake!

If you are SERIOUS about learning how to live your best life and understanding your calorie intake, Take On my 4 week Program! ( www.4weekprogram.com.au/ )

I’m more than happy to support and get results for those that are SERIOUS about their health, fitness and lifestyle!!!!

EGGS BENEDICT

Contains protein-rich eggs, which are a great source of selenium and vitamin D. The benefits of this ‘Calorie Bomb’ end there, thanks to toppings like ham / bacon, high-fat Hollandaise sauce and can also be served on an English muffin.

“All of these types of foods combined together can be difficult to digest, making you feel bloated, tired, and excessively full.”

Exactly how bad are they?
Eggs Benedict from one popular breakfast chain come in at a whopping 1,050 calories and 57 grams of fat.

Info via: { http://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/diet-tips/12-brunch-orders-worse-steak-dinner }

What to order instead: Scrambled or poached eggs on wholemeal toast, preferably no butter, a small amount of tomato sauce. Sprinkle your eggs with a little sea salt (if it’s available) for added trace minerals.
