I have successfully run my own business for 11 years. Fraser Coast Fitness & Health Speech – by Jeanette Maynes (Personal Trainer & Life Coach)

Last Sunday I spoke at a community meeting on different topics to highlight the concerns of the Fraser Coast people in relation to different levels of government and different issues, organised by 2016 Council Candidate Jannean Dean.

Thank you for organising the talk Jannean, I’m still excited about all the things I learned, I thought it was successful and informative plus I met lots of passionate people.

I spoke in relation to obesity on the Fraser Coast and learnt lots of exciting and interesting information on a variety of community issues and topics, it was a very interesting day.

My Speech:

In Queensland 65% of adults and 28% of children are overweight or obese.

The 2014 fifth report from the Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young clearly states obesity is arguably the most confronting public health issue of this century.

It reads the evidence is clear that obesity is fuelling the prevalence of other chronic diseases, some of which can’t be turned back. Conditions like stroke, hypertension, heart attack, some cancers and a rapid escalation of type 2 diabetes.

In 2008 Obesity was recognised as a national priority. If the current upward trend continues, there will be about three million Queenslanders overweight or obese by 2020. 2 in 3 adults and 1 in 4 children are measured as overweight or obese. Obese adults were twice as likely as those of healthy weight to report poorer mental health in 2011–12. In 2015 the Queensland president of the Australian Medical Association, Dr Shaun Rudd said the “state emergency” of obesity was costing the state economy more than $11.6 billion every year. Dr Rudd said more education was needed to lower the alarming rates of obesity across the state. “What was used to be called the smart state we now call ourselves the fat state,” he said.

It is estimated that about 124,000 hospitalisations (6.7%) in Queensland were associated with overweight and obesity in 2011–12.

In 2014 University of Adelaide research showed there is more than 45,000 overweight and obese people living on the Fraser Coast. That was 46.3%, of the region’s 99,000 residents at that time. A massive 30% of those Fraser Coast residents are obese which is 32% higher than the QLD state figure.

August 2014 saw the launch of Fraser Coast Health and Fitness Community Action Group when I called a meeting with my friends to launch the concept of ‘Proudly Raising Awareness and Actioning Fun, Fitness & Health on the Fraser Coast.’

I have written and published a ‘4 WEEK PROGRAM’ which is a Mind, Meal & Exercise Plan that teaches people the tools and skills to apply for a long term happy healthy lifestyle.

In June 2015 we rebranded to the simple, fresh & easy to remember Fraser Coast Fitness & Health‘ (FCFH No more long name, it’s easy to remember, soothing new logo and colours, new activities, new goals and new free fitness timetable.)

We are a team of passionate individuals and businesses on the Fraser Coast that work together to raise awareness and help others achieve a new way of life and thinking that is healthy, exciting, fun and will make you happy!

Our only competition is laziness, a sedentary lifestyle, poor choices, mental health, fast and junk food plus the television!

We often share for free our enthusiasm, motivation, skills, professionalism, qualifications, encouragement, support and life experiences on this amazing journey!

We have a facebook page ‘Fraser Coast Fitness & Health’ that shares fitness news and events on the Fraser Coast plus we will be holding a free Fitness & Health Expo in Scarness park on Sunday the 16th of August from 10am – 2pm that I am currently organising. My next FREE 10km Community Challenge will also be on this date leaving at 6:30am from Scarness Park.

I would love for the Fraser Coast Regional Council to build fitness & tourist icons such as a rock pool, outdoor gyms, huge sets of stairs, more community gardens and open spaces, hiking trails, fitness equipment and bike paths for the residents to utilise. Allocate funding to free community exercise groups and become constantly vocal and proactive within the community about obesity awareness, especially prevention and create ongoing local initiatives. I have spoken to the Mayor a couple of times in relation to this matter but to no avail. As our State government & medical professionals report the obesity rate as arguably the most confronting public health issue of this century and a “state emergency”, why does our Council not take the Fraser Coast obesity epidemic seriously and work towards creating a massive community lifestyle overhaul campaign?!!

Cheryl Virgo is a qualified natural therapies & massage therapist plus life coach with 15 years experience specialising in energy work.
Cheryl takes a free 6.5 km beach walk from Torquay Jetty to the Pier return each Wednesday at 6 am. All are welcome and you will experience the most magical sunrises on the East Coast! Cheryl is also excited about being “The Leader of the Pack” with her new 3 km “Dog Walks” on a Monday and Friday starting at Cafe Cavour on the Esplanade opposite Crown street.

Florian Fitzek is currently working away but is looking forward to getting back to the bay for work and firing up his free training business again!

Turia Pitt Motivational Talk

On Saturday the 6th of June I had the wonderful opportunity to listen to the very inspirational Turia Pitt at the Brolga Theatre Maryborough.
Turia was burned terribly to 65% of her body in Sept 2011 by a grassfire when competing in a 100km Ultra Marathon across the Kimberley. She mentioned she passed away three times on the operating table and her amazing transformation has so far taken over three years and over two hundred surgical procedures. She wore her mask for two years and didn’t like it at all, mentioning how we all wear masks ….. something to think about!

She spoke of how people have so much more potential and are capable of so much more than they realise. If you really want to do something you will always find a way to make it happen, anything is possible if you never give up. Time is our most precious resource, make the most of every single day.
Earlier this year Turia ran the Huskisson 42km Marathon and beat her time from before her injuries! She is currently training between 8am – 11am in the morning to compete in an Ironman! 4km swim, 180km bike ride plus 42km run.

Turia mentioned that long runs can be tedious which I tend to agree with so she uses her imagination for distraction such as seeing herself as a messenger running to the Queen. Her talk was very amusing.
She mentioned one day she may get back into engineering as she missed the maths and spread sheets (I couldn’t think of anything worse hee hee) but for now is enjoying her motivational public speaking and supporting the charity Interplast plus possibly staring a family with Michael.
She has also written a book ‘Everything to Live For’, more info here! … and is currently working on her new book, ‘Life is a Gift’.

Over the past weekend I had the amazing opportunity of attending the Hay House Writers Seminar in Sydney as I had been fortunate due to the help and support of many voting for me and had WON a free ticket to the event.
Talk about Awesome, I learnt so much and had many questions and thoughts answered in relation to my self-published soon to be BEST SELLING ‘4 Week Program!’ plus my marketing jeanette maynes hao house writers seminarplan, my platforms, my websites and the way I am implementing my goals and book / program within the community.
The energy and vibration in the room was electric and I met so many wonderful friendly like minded people. I hung out with a lovely lady and made a new friend also a ticket winner being Melissa Gibson a psychic, we got along fabulously – the Butterfly Whisperer.
Now to finalise my Synopsis to present to Hay House!
Someone (or maybe more than one person) who attended the seminar will WIN a publishing package with them; I could be the next best selling author accelerating my passion to “Get Australia Motivated!”. I hope so as I can feel it within my whole being!!

I had the pleasure of meeting and having a photo with the authors in order (the 1st four even before the seminar started!) as per my Law of Attraction photo print out (pretty powerful – reminds me of my Law of Attraction Donald Trump picture here) and the rest throughout the two days. I was also on the print out as a featured author as I will be speaking at the seminar in the future (L.O.A. at work). We need to have at least 1,000 people doing my ‘4 Week Program’ to create a flow on effect to change 20,000 people to achieve the goal of dropping the obesity / overweight statistic from 70% to 50% on the Fraser Coast! This has made me so passionate about helping others be happy! Since the start of 2006 I have researched and been reprogramming my thoughts, behaviours, self talk and beliefs plus implemented new and exciting fitness, eating and lifestyle habits.

Beforehand, I had very negative self talk, plus unhealthy habits – junk food, smoking and drinking. You really don’t love yourself when you are slowly trying to kill yourself – one bite, puff or sip at a time!

I had lost 16 kilo’s in my early 20’s to get back to a healthy weight range (69.9 kg down to 54kg) but did that while still drinking, smoking and eating junk food! My behaviours didn’t change and I eventually put that weight back on due to these negative and self destructive habits and self sabotage from a very WEAK MIND!

I hit 30 and said, “THAT IS IT! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” … BE ACCOUNTABLE! Stop blaming others, your situations, made up negative beliefs and your past! YOU are in control of YOUR life and BAM, I CHOSE TO CHANGE and well that was it!!

noosa halfI went cold turkey on the cigarettes, stating I am never spending another cent on this sh*t or putting one near my mouth ever again! AND I HAVEN’T. To do this I had to get off the grog. I did 42 days straight without a drink till I felt I had enough self control to enjoy a beer! I also said there is no way I’m putting on weight like everyone else while I give up smoking SO THERE IT STARTED! I grabbed a piece of paper, pencil, a calorie book and started writing everything I ate and kept under a certain calorie limit each day (thank god we now have speedy online websites to do this for us). I lost SIX kilograms straight up when I gave up smoking and then a further NINE kilograms as I learnt about calorie control, portion sizes and the importance of regular exercise.

I now run my own successful multi award winning graphic and website design business (DESIGN HOUSE), have climbed to Base Camp at Mt Everest, run the Great Wall of China Marathon, rode a Harley for many years and now realise and believe with all my heart that ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE FOR ANYONE IN LIFE FOR ANYONE!

Today I’m extremely motivated, positive, passionate, driven and happy, which people comment on all the time. I don’t tolerate negativity, I have absolutely no concern what others think of me; that is their business, I do not lower my standards for anyone, I do not enable poor me talk and behaviour from others, nor do I associate with people that do not fully support me and lift me higher.

Working casual hours at a gym while finalising my Personal Trainer study made me realise people just have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA ABOUT THE CALORIES in food, correct portion sizes and how much energy is required to burn off what you eat, hence about 70% of Wide Bay residents(my home area) in Queensland being in the UNHEALTHY or OBESE RANGE.

Australia is today ranked as one of the fattest nations in the developed world and around 63% of Australian adults were classified as overweight or obese in 2012.

Therefore since 2006 beginning extensive study, research and implementation I decided to write the4 Week Program‘ SO OTHERS CAN TEACH THEMSELVES TO FEEL AND DO THE SAME, by being ACCOUNTABLE for themselves, as everyone deserves to be happy, and if I can help one person or preferably ONE TOWN at a time that will make me happy!

I always THINK BIG so my GOAL is to start with my HOME TOWN / REGION (before going National) and see how much weight we can lose on my 4 Week Program!’ as a community supporting each other. NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE CONTROL BACK OF YOUR LIFE!

If calorie intake exceeds calorie expenditure, we gain weight.
If calorie intake is less than calorie expenditure we lose weight.
If calorie intake equals calorie expenditure, our weight remains the same.

But Hervey Bay’s Jeanette Maynes believes health and fitness should be a part of everyday life, not just as a new year resolution.

The personal trainer says every day was a perfect time for setting goals or starting fresh.

“Keep planning and keep achieving, it keeps the motivation flowing.

“Every day is a new exciting beginning, a change to change.”

Ms Maynes said there was “no excuse” for recent statistics that ranks Queensland at the top of the obesity scales.

“When you talk about obesity everyone goes off their nut trying to justify it,” she said.

“I think it time to start addressing the topic… people need to become accountable for their behaviours.”

Ms Maynes said the key to achieving a healthier lifestyle was having a strong mind and 100% focus.

“Write it down,” she said.

“You must clearly visualise in your mind that you have achieved the goal before you even start.

“Break it down into small steps that you can achieve each day.

“Exercise does change your life so make time for it in your routine – it really is worth it.”

Anyone who wants to start fresh has the opportunity to take part in Ms Maynes’ free 10km community challenge on Saturday, January 18, leaving from Enzo’s to the Urangan Pier and back again.

• Do not let anyone distract you. Do not eat rubbish because someone tells you to. Explain to others you have a goal and will not stray from it. Remove or avoid anyone or anything that does not completely support and encourage your goal.

• Feel proud each day that each small step is a positive change to achieving your goal and inner happiness.

• Have a strong mind. The first three weeks of starting a healthy lifestyle and fitness regime will be the toughest. Forming a new habit takes about 21 days. If that habit is clean eating and exercise you have just created a habit that your body will be thanking you for the rest of your life.

My first ever speech!

 

Today I presented my first ever half hour speech at the Fraser Coast University with Matthew Condon, Hugh Lunn, & Chris Collin.

“Set a goal to achieve something that is so big, so exhilarating that it excites you and scares you at the same time. It must be a goal that is so appealing, so much in line with your spiritual core, that you can’t get it out of your mind. If you do not get chills when you set a goal, you’re not setting big enough goals.” – Bob Proctor

When the library asked me to do this speech I though  …NOW This one is a Goal that Chills me! Presenting my first ever half hour speech at the university in the auditorium!!

Public Speaking I thought …. well I passed a toast masters course in grade 8 when I was 13, I’m sure I’ll remember how to do it! Talk about Face a Fear!

Luckily I do not think of fear as fear, I see it as adrenalin, excitement, anticipation and the opportunity to conquer a goal. So the preparation begin, I organised this goal into small achievable chunks plus I clearly pictured in my mind the task as being completed and an absolute huge success!! I saw a beer in my hand tonight to celebrate a successful speech!

“I  attended a talk by Jeanette Maynes at  the Hervey Bay USQ, where she spoke on the E Books she had published. The first part of the talk covered her experience of her trek to Mt Everest Base Camp with all the trials and triumphs that she encountered along the way. I found this account very engaging, and it fascinated me as to how someone would so willingly put themself through  t hat kind of challenge.   It was wonderful to be provided with an understanding of the cultural side of the Sherpas who assist climbers with their backpacks, and become the climbers’ best friend. At times it was humourous, and always uplifting. She held the attention of her audience well, which was assisted with the use of some great photos that she had taken along the way.

The second part of her talk was on running across The Great Wall of China. This account also kept her audience riveted as we listened  as to why Jeanette, would willingly welcome such a challenging experience. She provided some great insights into what you needed to tell yourself, and the mindset that was needed to keep going until the end, even long after the body wants to give up. Once again, there were some top quality photos to enhance her story.

The third part of her story, focussed on her role as a Personal Trainer and her ideas for promoting good health to her clients. She covered diet and exercise, and certainly showed us that she had walked the walk, and wasn’t just talking the talk. Although I found this talk helpful, I would have loved to have heard more of her own personal weight loss story, and the trials she faced along the way.  I think I would have identified with her story a little more, if this had been the case.

The next section, included her quest to become the best she could be, by reading books and attending seminars presented by the most successful  businessmen  in the world . Jeanettes’  account of meeting her idol,  Donald Trump, and the visualisation that had preceded  this event, was both touching and impressive. It was made clear to all of us, what was possible if you dared to dream, as she had.

In conclusion, Jeanette discussed her passion for graphic design, and website designing. Against the backdrop of the other topics she had discussed, this topic was a wonderful contrast. It highlighted her passion for design, and creating unique artwork. Overall, her talk was bright, bold and sassy, and showed her to be a real breath of fresh air. I look forward to hearing what she has to say next.”

Your Thoughts & Consciousness Impact Matter:
Recently I conducted an experiment from the book I’m reading e2 with the help of my Dad.
I have attached the experiment info, but what I did was will the beans on the LEFT side of the carton to grow quicker than the right.
The more energy aimed at the beans on the left apparently the quicker they will grow.
“With my innate energy, I will that the beans on the left side of the egg carton grow faster than the beans on the right!”

The results and what I learn’t:

Two beans sprouted on the left and only one on the right (on day eight, three beans had sprouted on the left and still only one on the right). So which side grew more?

Well the left grew more, as we were focusing on the left, but they were supposed to grow the tallest so really the right won this experiment.

Then I looked at my rules again “With my innate energy, I will that the beans on the left side of the egg carton grow faster than the beans on the right! … is not two beans faster than one?
I now realise it doesn’t say anything about height …. ha ha science always setting quantum lessons to figure out!

Perception is everything, how we see things in our mind may not be how they really are. We may stress ourselves out for no reason at all because of our mind and it’s beliefs.
Look at something from a different angle or perception and it could be a complete SUCCESS!!! Like my Beans on the LEFT!!

It is sad when you approach someone several times to communicate, and they don’t, for it is then I realise the hurt was intentional.  Well it’s not that sad, I just revert my thinking to #2!!!

HEAR WHAT OPRAH WINFREY HAD TO SAY ABOUT MEN

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he doesn’t want you, nothing can make him stay. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.

Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that’s not meant to be. Slower is better. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can’t “be friends”. A friend wouldn’t mistreat a friend.

Don’t settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is. Don’t stay because you think “it will get better.” You’ll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better. The only person you can control in a relationship is you. Avoid men who have a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn’t marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently? Always have your own set of friends separate from his. Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up. Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.

You cannot change a man’s behavior. Change comes from within. Don’t EVER make him feel he is more important than you are. Even if he has has more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.

Never let a man define who you are. Never borrow someone else’s man. If he cheated with you, he’ll cheat on you. A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you. All men are NOT dogs.

You should not be the one doing all the bending… Compromise is two way street. You need time to heal between relationships. There is nothing cute about baggage… Deal with your issues before pursuing a new
relationship. You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you. A relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals. Look for someone complimentary… not supplementary.

Dating is fun… Even if he doesn’t turn out to be Mr. Right. Make him miss you sometimes… When a man always know where you are, and you’re always readily available to him ~ he takes it for granted. Never move into his mother’s house. Never co-sign for a man. Don’t fully commit to a man who doesn’t give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

Scared of being alone is what makes a lot of women stay in relationships that are abusive or hurtful: Dr. Phil says… You should know that: You’re the best thing that could ever happen to anyone and if a man mistreats you, he’ll miss out on a good thing. If he was attracted to you in the 1st place, just know that he’s not the only one. They’re all watching you, so you have a lot of choices. Make the right one. Ladies take care of your own hearts… ❤

Unleash The Power Within

Last weekend I participated in one of the most amazing experiences of my life, ‘Unleash The Power Within’, a 4 day seminar with Tony Robbins in Sydney.

The main reason of attending was to firewalk which we did on the first day on coals between 1,200 and 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

I’d seen a picture on Tony’s website of Oprah doing the fire walk and I though, if Oprah can do it, I can!

I didn’t feel any heat what so ever, must of had my mind focused!

From then on what happened was so profound.

I completely reprogrammed my mind and have removed negative experiences from my life / childhood and created a new timeline.

I realised I was living my life with excellent standards but to reach the next level in life you must have ‘OUTSTANDING’ Standards which is only a 2mm gap you need to close. This will be beneficial in all aspects of my life especially my business.

On the last day we heard about nutrition which I also learnt some very profound new information and found this extremely interesting as I am studying to be a personal trainer.
I am now on day 7 of a DETOX Tony put us on and am loving it!!! No alcohol, caffeine and an alkaline diet + a few other new healthy & positive habits to incorporate.

This seminar was such a precious gift I gave to myself, the information was priceless and the results truly invaluable!!

BRAD PITT: I think happiness is overrated, truthfully. I do. I think sometimes you’re happy, sometimes you’re not. There’s too much pressure to be happy. I don’t know. I don’t really give a shit. I know I will be at times and I know I won’t be at times. Satisfied, at peace, those would be more goals for myself.

TARA BROWN: So, is Brad Pitt content today?

BRAD PITT: Content. OK, I will go with content. Uh, I dare say so. I probably won’t be next week.
