Early Childhood

When and where were you born? In the 70’s in Townsville
Do you recall any interesting stories regarding your birth? Yes I was born on Father’s day and Dad said he held me within a couple of minutes of being born.
What is your earliest memory? Playing under mums sewing table.
Who was the most influential person to you as a child? Dad
How would your parent(s) describe you as a child?  Beautiful, smart and an absolute little treasure   Why? Cause they are biased and have too!
Did you have any pets as a child?  Yes a kangaroo, cow, chooks, ducks, pigeons, dog, fish and numerous birds.

Did you attend university?  Not straight away, I decided to party for a few years! 15 years on I have enrolled. (Took me a while!)
How were you able to attend university?  I pay for it by running my own business.

Why did you decide to attend university? To strategically plan the path for my business expansion

Did you get a degree?  I will have a Masters of Professional Studies on completion
Was your family supportive of your decision to attend college?  I guess
How did your university experience prepare you for your later years? I have taught myself several new skills and knowledge that I can apply to any situation. I now think at a higher level.
 
Career

What was your first job? Newsagency assistant when I was 14 and a half
What was your best job? My current position – General Manager Design House Fraser Coast
What was your worst job? Checkout chick (5months when first out of school). Though I did get a certificate for being the fastest scanner in Qld!
What is the longest amount of time you have ever stayed with one company?  4 years – General Manager / Graphic Designer
In addition to being paid money, how else has your career created value in your life? I love what I do so I don’t feel like I am working. Every day is fun and a blessing!
What is your most significant accomplishment as a professional? My own business plus awards for this business
Were you ever fired for unjust reasons? Yes and I took the employer to the Industrial Relations Commission and Won

Do you have children?  No, I brought A Harley Davidson as it is cheaper.
What would be your goal as a parent? To lead by example, have fun and love a lot!
What does the word “family” mean to you? A lot of people that you are supposed to like because they are related. Fortunately 98% of my family is Fabulous!
How would your children describe you as a parent? Amazing!
In what ways have your parents influenced you the most? Great morals, intelligence, treat others as you would like to be treated, good looking.
Which of your parents do you most similar to and why? Dad because I go out of my way for people. Mum because I am over organized.
What is your relationship with your parents like today? Great! I’m finally training them to treat me like an adult (But I suppose acting like one helps)!
Who do you admire most in your family and why? Dad he’s a legend and always sets a great example! And we have the same witty sense of humor and crack each other up laughing.
Have you lost any family members to death?  Yes my cousin Luke Maynes, my granddad Patrick Maynes, my aunty Kathy Maynes and my grandpa Stan McCarthy.
If so, what was your relationship to them and how did their death affect you/your family? All my relationships are uniquely special with the individual person. I find all deaths terribly emotional and a traumatic experience to work through.
