Lifting Heavy Weights DOES NOT Bulk Up Women … It’s literally NOT POSSIBLE…!

“Strength training will improve muscle tone and appearance but a two or three 30 – 40 minute strength workout  a week will not bulk you up. Women do not have enough testosterone to build huge muscles and they would have to lift massive weights several times a week plus maintain a strict carefully controlled diet and use supplements (possibly illegal ones – steroids) to bulk up. Don’t let this misleading perception stop you from gaining the benefits of toning up and becoming fit and healthy. Muscle takes up less room than fat, so in fact women tend to lose cm’s when they strength train plus muscle uses calories faster than fat, even while you sleep. Although your body obtains calories, or energy, from fat, muscle tissue also burns calories for your body but at a faster rate. In addition to the physical benefits (increased strength, decreased risk of osteoporosis & increased metabolism), strength training will help you slim down! So ladies No Excuses, Don’t be afraid to pick up weights !!”  – Jeanette Maynes
